Hi, I would like to know if the springs on the 444 shocks can be replaced with something a little softer. (11.5) the # on the spring is 03-1319 140/180 ,,, I like the shocks but the ride is a bit on the stiff side. I ride a 2010 Electra Glide. If so,, do i have to send the shocks back to you or can i find someone here that has the tools and you send me the springs…..thanks for your time…
Charlie
Hey Charlie,
We can sort you out, but in order to help you better please answer a few questions first. What do you weigh, how often do you ride with a passenger? What amount of sag does the bike have when you sit on it?
Thanks,
-Suspension Guy
Back to you,,,, I weigh 180, I ride solo most of the time when I don’t she weighs 105.. the sag is no more that 3/8 to 1/2
seems to be very hard to make the shocks move even when I sit down hard on the seat…
I have taken the 444′s off and using older an longer shocks with a lowering block.(not a fan of the block)
thanks for your help
Charlie
I just purchased a set of the 412 series shocks. when adjusting the cam’s does weight (someone sitting on the bike) need to be on the bike. Or should the bike be just sitting on the jiffy stand?
Just sitting on the side stand is good.
Hope this helps, thanks!
I have used your products for years on a number of bikes and I’ve always been happy. Before I go off in the wrong direction, I have a question. I have owed my 1982 H-D FXR for about 25 years and I love it! Here’s my question: Last season I changed the fork seals and now the forks “top out” a lot more than I seem to remember. I’ve got 20,000 miles easy miles on the bike and my local shop doesn’t know why the forks are banging often as they fully extend.
Would more and or heavier fork oil help? Less spring preload? Please help, I don’t like noisy forks!
Peter
Peter,
Sorry to hear about that. Heavier weight fork oil and less preload would solve it. Try the preload first, you want about ¾ of an inch of preload.
Hope this help your problem. Let us know how it goes. We’re here to help!
Thanks!
I purchased a used ’93 Goldwing which is equipped with a pair of your 416 series shocks. The top half of the shock separates from the bottom half by just pulling it out. Is it supposed to be like this? Is their anything special I should know about these shocks?
